THE DECIBEL MAGAZINE TOUR - BEHEMOTH - DECIBELMAGAZINETOUR.COM

Behemoth
Behemoth
BEHEMOTH have set "Evangelion" as the title of their ninth hell breaking opus. A Greek word meaning "spreading the good news" or "spreading the words of God", its use is often related to biblical stories of the salvation of mankind, the sacrificial death of Jesua and his later resurrection. BEHEMOTH choose to use the word in it's purest, etymological context, without any Christian connotations - the time of spreading good news has come indeed. This is the Evangelion Of The New Eon.

Representing a whole new spectrum of strength, creativity and determination, "Evangelion" is the album to undoubtedly lead this Polish mob to the peak of the extreme metal genre. Always a band for disrespecting the boundaries of self-limitation (indeed, evil has no boundaries), these metal luminaries have returned with fury and vengeance. Recorded in the band's hometown Radio Gdansk studio with Wieslawscy Brothers and Daniel Bergstrand (drums) in the producers chair, and a stunning mix courtesy of the legendary Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Carcass), the final result is a beast of an album, and one that will tear any competition to shreds.

Expectations are high for BEHEMOTH with what many are citing as their breakthrough album. Indeed, the band have already stolen a Golden God at this year's Metal Hammer Awards for "Best Underground Band", as well as securing first place in Terrorizer's readers polls ("Best Live Band", "Best Vocalist", Best Drummer"). But this is not an overnight success story. BEHEMOTH have been together for close to 19 years now. Formed by a teenage Nergal in 1991, BEHEMOTH quickly made a name for themselves in black metal circuits with early cult releases "Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic)", "…And The Forests Dream Eternally" mini CD, and "Grom". Third full length "Pandemonic Incantations" saw the addition of drum monster Inferno, at which point the band started to realise their full potential. Slowly evolving with increasingly impressive musicianship and songwriting, as well as ever-imporoving production values, the band amassed a solid and dedicated fanbase with such highly acclaimed albums as "The Apostasy" and "Demigod", as well as some very high profile tours, including runs with acts such as Dimmu Borgir, Deicide, Amon Amarth, Opeth, In Flames, Trivium, Morbid Angel, Chimaira, and, most notably, 2007's Ozzfest where the band's unrelenting energy, savage brutality and uncompromising vision made them the breakthrough artist of the tour.

In support of their 9th full-length, BEHEMOTH will be hitting the road with Slayer and Marilyn Manson as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival tour, the hottest US tour of the summer, and one that is bound to see them increase their dedicated fanbase even further. Out to consistently push the envelope and top previous efforts, BEHEMOTH have with "Evangelion" delivered an extreme metal masterpiece set to drop the jaws of all who hear it. Stay tuned and beware - Evangelion is here!

The Devil's Blood
The Devil's Blood
The myriad of influences, both artistically and spiritually, that creates the overall aesthetic of The Devil’s Blood takes the listener into a labyrinth of wondrous amazement and dark realization. Using the tradition of rock n roll music as being a mouthpiece for the influence of The Devil to evoke a powerful, sensual and energetic mixture of Musical Theatre and Ritual Practise.

Using the power of their written material, which traditionally holds common ground with, for example, 70s hard rock and 60s psychedelia among many others, as a steppingstone from which the band moves into complex improvisational drifts that drive, clash, shake and force their way into the subconscious of the listeners while at the same time opening up their senses with the use of fire, blood, incense and other ritualistic ingredients.

The Devil’s Blood uses these ingredients in their Theatrical Presentations as focal points through which the sonic worship of Death, Chaos and the Devil is projected. To instigate certain rebellious notions, alive deep within the dark heart of humanity, they seek to spill forth the waters of the River of The Devil’s Blood so that it in turn might instigate the spark of the inner Divine flame, that it might speak of the inner potential and power of the ones confronted with its glory, that it might, in whatever small or grand fashion, add to the growing forces of the infernal dominion and thereby to the impetus that shall lead to the end of all things.

“The Devil’s Blood is a dedication to principles and principals more ancient than Time, a branch of a tree greater than the World, an exclamation of both the profound and the profane. The Devil’s Blood has always been one of the many vessels through which the Light of the Devil shines upon the darkness of the world and shall always be the possible entrance to a path walked alone. But only for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. This path starts not in understanding but in confusion.

The Devil’s Blood have proven time and time again to be a completely self reliant and untethered entity, we hold no allegiance with anyone, not even internally. We do not belong to any scene and refuse to be the face of any kind of movement or organisation. The Devil’s Blood is quite simply not of this world and holds no ties to it. We shall disappear as suddenly as we came when the time of the completion of our founding goals has been achieved. What these are is not known, not even to us. Without fear nor hesitation we cast upon the fire our children for Moloch! Hail Satan!“
In Solitude
In Solitude
In 2002, under an Uppsala Moon, the spirits of ancient evil and old metal are summoned and celebrated. The cloaks of Swedes Niklas Lindstrom (guitar), Uno Bruniusson (drums), Gottfrid Ahman (bass) and Henrik Helenius (guitar / vocals) rose within a circle of fire and gave birth to the band IN SOLITUDE. Tones of below and voices from the deep beyond enlightened the eve. At dawn a new entity will have arisen although a year would pass before it would ride out…

Enter 2003, a feared and forceful enigma would soon be drawn to this flame; Hornper (vocals) had arrived. By the dark light of the morning star, the five bad points of IN SOLITUDE, who hail from Uppsala Sweden (the same town as Watain & Invidious) cast their first shadows. In 2004, IN SOLITUDE released the band’s first self-titled demo, filled with the incipient verses and music from the new beast. Copies soon dissipate into smoke.

In 2005 guitarist/vocalist Henrik Heleius strays off the burning path. The silhouette of another takes form and Mattias Gustafsson is conjured to enrich the sonic spells of these children of the night. In 2006 the band released the second demo Hidden Dangers, which breathes the night air briefly as it too, quickly dissipates into the aura of the European metal nightscape.

In 2008, Sweden’s S.M.P. Records released the EP Hidden Dangers as a 7” which quickly sold out. Under this same cycle, the band unleashes their nameless 8 song, full-length debut in the form of a CD on Pure Steel Records and cast in wax on High Roller Records. Captured at Burlesco Studios, the same as the demos, this now famous debut was produced by Hasse Bruniusson. The heat of the album spread throughout the land as both versions rapidly saw represses.

Heeding to a growing following, especially in Germany and their home country of Sweden, IN SOLITUDE embarked on a handful of European tours. Touted festivals also witnessed this glorious new beast, namely Keep It True, Up the Hammers, Pounding Metal, Metal Magic and Hell’s Pleasures festivals. Amidst these heighted tiers however, another member grievingly falls, and by the end of 2009 Mattias Gustafsson returned to the mist wherein he came.

2010 saw IN SOLITUDE signing a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records. This is also the year that Henrik Psalm, vocalist and guitarist for the heavy punkers Sonic Ritual, passes the trials by fire and thus a new fury rises within the horde. Guitarist Henrik Psalm comments; “Soon it will be winter and I am very happy to be a part of the snowstorm of broken glass that is IN SOLITUDE. I’ve got a good feeling that we will pierce quite a few hearts. There will be some blood in the snow. My blood. Everyone’s blood. Ideas are growing into actions. More blood in the snow. It’s great. Passion. Fire. I love these guys. We are really doing something that will make motion. It’s in the air around us right now. We love each other and we love that fire that moves us. It’s something not of this world and I am one of the instruments that makes this happen, and that’s a beautiful thing.” The cultivation of a new sound nears perfection; one that bears the dynamic powers of youth and the embittered wisdom of the ages.

The week of November 15th, the horde entered Nicke Anderson's (HELLACOPTERS) brand new studio Gutterview Recorders in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Fred Estby (DISMEMBER, DEATH BREATH) to record the band’s sophomore record, which will see release in the spring of 2011.

Follow the Owl. Follow your own burning blood into the night!
